CRA staff shakedown throws promised tax crackdown into question.
So, how in the world will CRA have the resources to FATCA Canadians on behalf of IRS? Oh wait. At House of Commons Finance Committee, no one had any idea how many staff or how much money FATCA will require from CRA?

CRA staff cutbacks certainly can’t hurt our cause. Thanks for the good news. Now what I would really like to hear about would be more IRS cutbacks. Or better yet if the IRS went out of business.

Here’s more that seems to confirm CRA is cutting staff and managers including in international tax evasion.
Do I have this right? Canada is reducing the staff required to combat offshore tax evasion from Canadians who live in Canada. At the same time, they will help a foreign government’s tax folks seize the legal banking records of honest taxpaying Canadian citizens and residents.
    Indeed. “Congress has spoken.”
